First, steel production has declined. According to the National Bureau of Statistics data, January-August national pig iron, crude steel production of 582.171 million tons, 693.149 million tons, down 4.1 percent , 5.7 percent , respectively.
Second, the overall decline in steel import and export volume. According to the General Administration of Customs data, January-August national total exports of steel 46.23 million tons, down 3.9 percent year-on-year. Among them, August exports of steel 6.15 million tons, an increase of 21.9 percent year-on-year, down 7.8 percent YoY. 1-August national total imports of steel 7.45 million tons, down 21.2 percent YoY. Among them, the August imports of steel 890,000 tons, down 15.9 percent year-on-year.
Third, steel prices have rebounded. According to the China Iron and Steel Industry Association monitoring, at the end of August, China's comprehensive steel price index of 114.37 points, up 2.91 points, or 2.6 percent .
Fourth, imported ore has declined. According to the General Administration of Customs data, January-August national imports of iron ore and its concentrates 722.92 million tons, down 3.1 percent year-on-year. Among them, the national imports of iron ore and its concentrates in August 96.21 million tons, down 1.2 percent year-on-year.
